Getting around

Jávea spreads across three districts — the old town (Pueblo), the port and the Arenal — each with its own character. The apartment sits near the Arenal, which you can walk to in about seven minutes. A car is useful for day-trips to Granadella, the Montgó national park or the weekly markets in neighbouring towns; taxis are plentiful, and in the summer a local beach shuttle runs between the three districts.

Local markets

On Thursday mornings the municipal market in the old town is worth the short drive — stalls of fruit, cheese, charcuterie and flowers under a lovely modern hall. The MásyMás and Mercadona supermarkets near the apartment are fully stocked for self-catering stays, and a handful of panaderías within walking distance bake bread and coca de tomate fresh every morning.

Dining near the Arenal

The Arenal promenade lines up beach bars and restaurants from casual paella at midday to long dinners with your feet almost in the sand. Locals favour the family-run arrocerías slightly back from the front, and the little tapas bars tucked into the side streets. Book ahead on weekends from June to September — the sunset tables go fast.
